Site Safety & Aesthetics

Traffic Management

Some visitors are still treating the urbanisation roads as a racing track and putting lives [particularly children] at risk. Please observe the site speed limit [10kph].

The carriageways have been marked with the direction of travel [white arrows on the roadway] .

Electricity Boxes [Iberdrola]

Some people are putting themselves and others at risk by breaking into the electricity boxes [apparently to read their meters] and this is both dangerous and costing the community for lock replacement. If you see anyone doing this please report it to the President/Deputy.

Sleeping Policemen

The speed "humps"  installed down the road [Calle Abdelacies] which flanks the southern side of R1 appear to have succeeded in slowing traffic down.

Consideration is being given to installing them on the main inner roadway as certain residents persist in travelling at dangerous speeds in the car parking area putting us all at risk.

Pool Safety.

The legal situation regarding communal swimming pools is reproduced below as it is so important that residents and visitors are aware of what is, and what is not permitted. The Community Rules [see later page] also deals, inter alia, with pool safety issues.

THE FORCE OF POOL REGULATIONS

"LILOS & INFLATABLES ARE DANGEROUS. OWNERS HAVE A JOINT RESPONSIBILTY FOR ACCIDENTS THAT OCCUR IN THEIR SWIMMING POOLS. NOT ALL INSURANCE POLICIES COVER USAGE OF INFLATABLES. THIS CAN BE AVOIDED WITH THE CORRECT SIGNS. IF A POOL USER BREAKS THE REGULATIONS, THE POLICE CAN BE NOTIFIED AND THE OFFENDER HEAVILY FINED"

A BAN ON LILOS & INFLATABLES IN COMMUNITY POOLS IS STANDARD. LILOS CAN BE DANGEROUS; IT IS EASY TO FALL ASLEEP ON A LILO IN THE HOT SUN & DROWNINGS HAVE OCCURRED AS A RESULT.

OWNERS & COMMUNITIES HAVE JOINT FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILTY FOR ANY ACCIDENTS THAT MAY OCCUR IN THEIR POOL. SOME INSURANCE POLICIES DO NOT COVER THE USE OF INFLATABLES. THIS IS THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT REASON FOR BANNING INFLATABLES.

IF OWNERS HAVE VOTED AT A CONSTITUTED MEETING TO HAVE A BAN ON INFLATABLES IN THE POOL, THEN THIS REGULATION HAS THE FORCE OF THE LOCAL BY-LAW. IN ORDER FOR THE REGULATION TO HAVE A LEGAL EFFECT, A SIGN DETAILING THE RULES MUST BE PLACED AT THE POOL SIDE IN A WELL VISIBLE LOCATION.

IF A POOL USER BREAKS THE REGULATIONS, THE LOCAL POLICE CAN BE NOTIFIED TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST THE OFFENDER. THE PRESIDENT OF THE COMMUNITY SHOULD FIRST WARN THE OFFENDER & SHOULD THE WARNING BE IGNORED, THE POLICE CAN BE CONTACTED.

ACCORDING TO ARTICLE 55 OF THE VALENCIAN LAW ON SWIMMING POOLS, FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THESE REGULATIONS IS AN OFFENCE PUNISHABLE BY A FINE RANGING FROM €600 UP TO €60,000 DEPENDING ON THE SEVERITY.

Pool Staircase

The handrails on the pool staircase have now been repaired.

Please remember that the President has to make decisions which may be unpopular with some, but at least decisions are being made to attempt to improve the area.

The issue of planting some trees down the centre of the area is again being discussed, [and hopefully agreed]. These will serve to mark out car park spaces, provide shade, improve the appearance of the area, and make property [and the whole area] more attractive.
